The investigation into a ragging incident involving second-year Faculty of Technology students at the Sabaragamuwa University has been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Following a complaint received on the 29th, the Samanalawewa Police recorded statements from 20 students who were subjected to ragging on the 2nd. According to police, further investigations were transferred to the CID on the directive of the Acting Inspector General of Police.
Additionally, an investigation into the death of a suspect arrested by Kosgoda Police has also been handed over to the CID. The suspect, a 28-year-old resident of Kosgoda, was arrested on May 1st for possessing 6.210 grams of crystal meth and died while in police custody on May 2nd.
