President Anura Kumara Dissanayake says he will reimburse the government for the fuel costs incurred during his travels for local government election campaigns.
He revealed this during a television interview, stating that during the last general election, fuel expenses for his vehicles were paid by his political party.
He further noted that from the start of the local government election period, he instructed to keep records of fuel expenses, promising to repay those costs. “In the past, candidates used helicopters for campaigns. Today, we’re even returning the fuel costs to the government to rebuild the country,” he said.
