New online system introduced for obtaining travel passports

Steps have been taken to introduce a new online system for obtaining travel passports.

Acting Controller General of Immigration and Emigration, D.M.D. Nilusha Balasuriya, announced at a media briefing held today (04) that the new online system will be implemented from the 6th of this month.

She stated that by visiting the Department of Immigration and Emigration website, a date can be reserved for obtaining the travel passport.

“Once you select and reserve a date, we can provide only a limited number of tokens. However, if that quota is filled, you can reserve a date for a future day as well.

Accordingly, at any time of the day, from anywhere, anyone can reserve a date through this website. Therefore, we have decided to implement this online system from the 6th of November. We inform the public to avoid arriving without a prior reservation after the 6th of November. Additionally, as of now, we have already allocated dates until the end of November, so the possibility of reserving a date will only be available from the beginning of December onwards.”
