The pension of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka officials has been abolished.
According to the special gazette announcement issued by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, it is stated that the former governors, the current governor or any future governor will not receive a pension.
The Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe has released the special gazette announcement.
The pension of the Governors of the Central Bank was abolished from the 1st of January 1998, but then it was activated again from the 1st of January 2015.
Accordingly, the former central bank governors also received monthly pensions from January 1, 2015.
It entitles the Governor of the Central Bank to receive a monthly pension equal to 74% of his last basic salary regardless of his years of service.
