IMF says the day when private vehicles will be imported to Sri Lanka

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has made a statement on how to remove the ban on the import of vehicles that still exists in this country.

The executive board of that fund completed the second review for Sri Lanka and prepared the approach for releasing the last installment approved for Sri Lanka yesterday and this was said at the press conference held in America today.

According to the IMF statement, Sri Lanka has prepared a basic road map to ease restrictions on vehicle imports by 2025.

There, in the 3rd quarter of this year (2024), the import ban on general passenger and special purpose vehicles will begin to be eased.

Later in the 4th quarter of this year, arrangements will be made to import the cargo vehicles.

The International Monetary Fund says that all other vehicle import restrictions will be removed next year.
