Union action is being taken today by locomotive drivers, government surveyors, Road Development Authority engineers, and university non-academic staff.
The locomotive drivers’ strike is going on for the fourth day today. More than 20 train journeys scheduled this morning were canceled due to the strike. The strike is based on several issues including stalled promotions and lack of new hires and salary disparities.
Meanwhile, the Government Surveyors Association employees have also left their duties reporting sick leave today.
The professional action initiated by the Engineering Association of the Road Development Authority based on several demands is still active today. The union says workers are also leaving the construction of roads and bridges in rural areas.
Meanwhile, the strike started by the university’s non-academic employees continues for the 39th day today.
