    Risk of landslides and flooding remains in many areas

    The National Disaster Management Center warns that there will be a risk of landslides in eight districts including the Colombo district and minor flooding in a few areas.

    Accordingly, this warning has been issued to Colombo, Galle, Kalutara, Kandy, Kegalle, Kurunegala, Nuwara Eliya and Ratnapura districts until tomorrow.

    A flood warning has also been issued for the next 48 hours in the low-lying areas around the Kudagaga and Maguruganga basins.

    Accordingly, there is a possibility of minor flooding in the low-lying Bulathsinghala, Madurawala and Palindanuwara Divisional Secretariat Divisions of the Kudaganga Maguruganga valleys.

    Due to the prevailing heavy rain conditions, the following areas are warned of the risk of falling trees, large rockslides, and landslides.

    Below is advice on risk management issued by those regions and the National Building Research Organisation.
