The 15th National War Heroes Commemoration Ceremony will be held tomorrow (19) in front of the Battaramulla National War Heroes Memorial under the chairmanship of President Ranil Wickramasinghe to honor the war heroes who sacrificed their lives to protect the motherland from terrorism for thirty years.
With the cooperation of the heads of the government including the Defense Secretary, the Commanders of the Armed Forces, the Inspector General of Police and other war heroes and the parents of the war heroes who died in the war, retired officers of the Armed Forces are going to participate in this celebration.
It is planned to implement a program to encourage the war heroes who are disabled and sacrificed their lives in the war as well as their family members and to improve the war heroes who are currently serving.
Meanwhile, 3,146 navy sailors have been promoted to the next rank in conjunction with the 15th War Heroes Commemoration Day.
In a statement, the Navy says that 3,146 senior and junior sailors of the Navy have been promoted by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, with the approval of the President, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
