Pfizer’s second dose is suspended for residents in Colombo

Colombo Mayor Rosy Senanayake says that the program of giving Pfizer as the second dose to the people in the Colombo Municipal Council area who have taken the first dose of AstraSeneca will be stopped.

This is due to the fact that a stockpile of AstraZeneca vaccine is due in two weeks.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Health has informed her that AstraZeneca can be given as the second dose after receiving the stock.

Following is the announcement made by the Mayor of Colombo.

“The Ministry of Health has decided to suspend the second dose of Pfizer vaccine as it has been informed by the Ministry of Health that the AstraZeneca vaccine will be given as the second dose in the third week of July.

Due to this, the Pfizer vaccination scheduled for July 8 has been postponed. Accordingly, vaccinations will be resumed as soon as new stocks of AstraZeneca vaccine are received. I apologize for the inconvenience.” Rosy Senanayake has announced.
