It has been reported that Somali pirates have hijacked a Sri Lankan multi-day trawler in the Arabian Sea.
It is in the sea area which is 1160 nautical miles away from the coast of Sri Lanka.
The Fisheries Department says that it is reported that this vessel has been hijacked along with 06 fishermen on board.
The multi-day fishing trawler “Lorenzo Putha 04” which sailed from Dikovita, Chilaw fishing port on the 12th has been hijacked.
It is said that the authorities have taken steps to take necessary measures to rescue the fishermen who are said to have been abducted.
