Trade Minister Nalin Fernando says that the price of an imported Indian egg will be increased to 43 rupees from tomorrow (21).
He said that these eggs were imported from India for sale through Sathosa with the increase in VAT.
Therefore, Sathosa outlets have restricted the sale of eggs as they cannot sell that egg for 35 rupees.
As a result, there has been a shortage of eggs in Sathosa stores, so the price of local eggs has risen again in the market.
A white and red egg was sold at the price of 52 rupees today at Narahenpita Economic Center.
