It has been decided to implement the political affairs of the United National Party through the new leadership board starting from the first of January.
This board will have the party’s decision-making and exercise of powers, where many other positions will be lost.
Mr. Ruwan Wijewardena, Ravi Karunanayake, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Sagala Ratnayake, Harin Fernando, Naveen Dissanayake and Wajira Abeywardena have been appointed to the UNP leadership board.
A person who can engage in party activities full-time and who will not run for elections is to be appointed as the new General Secretary of the United National Party.
A final decision regarding the appointee is scheduled to be taken next week.
