    Another Supreme Court judge has resigned from Badurdeen’s Case

    Another Supreme Court judge has resigned today after considering a fundamental rights petition filed by MP Rishad Badurdeen and his brother Riaz Badurdeen seeking an injunction against his arrest and detention. Mahinda Samayawardena, a member of the three-person judge panel, resigned stating that he was leaving due to personal reasons.

    Previously three judges who were to hear the fundamental rights petition have resigned from the post time to time. Janakda Silva, Yasantha Kodagoda, A. H. M. D. Nawaz were the judges those who resigned.

    Accordingly, four judges have withdrawn from the hearing of Rishad Bathiudeen’s petition.
