President Ranil Wickramasinghe has instructed to recruit 8,400 employees who are employed on contract basis in local government bodies for permanent service next year.
Today (17) in the Parliament, the Minister of State for Mass Media Mr. Shantha Bandara mentioned this.
The Minister of State also said:
“Some people say somethings are missing here and there. Everything cannot be included in the budget. The government has decided that we know that our innocent young people are working casually in various jobs in local councils and municipal councils on contract basis. They have been working for many years and are not permanent. Therefore, I am very responsible to say that the Prime Minister and the Minister of State in charge of our government have decided according to the President’s instructions to include 8,400 local government employees in permanent service in the year 2024.”
