Cricket Selection Committee Chairman Pramodya Wickramasinghe has been summoned to the Special Investigation Unit for Prevention of Offenses Related to Sports on November 22.
This is after the Minister of Sports informed the Special Investigation Unit for Prevention of Offenses Related to Sports to conduct an investigation regarding the matters mentioned in the press release issued by the Chairman of the Selection Committee recently.
Sri Lanka Selection Committee Chairman Pramodya Wickramasinghe’s press release on the 13th contained many controversial issues.
It said that match-fixing people tried to destroy the game of cricket and that some people invested huge amounts of money in spreading propaganda in social media.
According to the press release issued by Pramodya Wickramasinghe, the Ministry of Sports issued a statement yesterday stating that the statement that he is aware of matters related to match-fixing, corruption, illegal steering and illegal betting is a serious one.
Sports Minister Mr. Roshan Ranasinghe had informed the Special Investigation Unit for Prevention of Offenses Related to Sports to take steps to conduct a formal investigation regarding that statement.
