A police constable who was on a walking duty was seriously injured in a stabbing attack carried out by a monk and has been admitted to the hospital.
The attack took place this afternoon in front of an old house on Gamgoda Road, Pallegama, Deniyaya.
A monk of Kotikada Viharaya injured the police officer by hitting him on the back of the neck with a knife.
Initial investigations revealed that the cause of the assault was a love affair between the monk’s sister and the police officer.
