Chairman of the Delimitation Commission Mr. Mahinda Deshapriya says that there is no possibility of postponing the presidential election to be held next year except by amending the constitution.
He says that the presidential election cannot be rushed or delayed.
Accordingly, he said, the presidential election must be held between September 17 and October 17, 2024.
He also stated that continuing to run provincial councils under bureaucratic rule without appointing public representatives is a death blow to the country’s democracy.
Also, the chairman of the delimitation Commission, Mr. Mahinda Deshapriya, says that the said Commission’s report has not had any effect on the postponement of the local government elections.
