    Cricket Crisis: As One Committee Gives Report, Another Committee is Appointed

    The report of the committee appointed to draft a new constitution for Sri Lanka Cricket has been handed over to the Cabinet Sub-Committee appointed to resolve cricket issues.

    The committee headed by retired Supreme Court judge K.T. Chitrasiri prepared the relevant report as per the instructions of the President.

    The President’s Secretary Saman Ekanayake has handed over the relevant report today (08).

    Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Cricket has decided to appoint an independent committee consisting of three members of the interim committee recently appointed by the Sports Minister.

    Retired Supreme Court Judges S.I. Imam and Rohini Marasinghe, retired High Court Judge Airangani Perera are the three members.

    The independent committee has been empowered to look into the major responsibilities gazetted by the Sports Minister and make recommendations.

    Among the recommendations are to investigate and make recommendations regarding the matters mentioned in the report issued by the Auditor General on September 11, 2023, to investigate and make recommendations to prevent the corruption, fraud, irregularities, misconduct and failures mentioned in the Auditor General’s report and to formulate strategic methods for the same.
