    Transfer to the Former Principal of St’ Anthony, who Admitted Students Using Forged Documents

    The former principal of Katugastota St. Anthony Girls’ College, who is the main suspect in the case of admitting students to intermediate classes using forged documents, has been transferred to Gampola Zonal Education Office with immediate effect.

    The transfer has been given by Mr. Menaka Herath, Secretary of the Ministry of Central Provincial Education. The letter of her transfer to the Gampola Education Office, who was attached to the Central Provincial Education Department, has been forwarded to the suspected former principal by the Central Provincial Education Director Mr. Amarasiri Piyadasa.

    Two village officials and an accomplice have been arrested by the police on the charge of preparing false documents for the admission of girls to the intermediate classes of Katugastota St. Anthony Girls’ College and have now been brought before the court.

    Further investigations are underway according to a complaint made by Mr. Hemantha Premathilaka, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Education, to the Special Crime Investigation Unit of the Kandy Police, that the students have been admitted using forged documents.

    Mrs. Lakmini Siriwardena, who worked as the Deputy Director of Education at the Kekirawa Education Office, has been appointed as the new principal for St. Anthony Girls’ College.
