A discussion has been held on the current status of the E-Ticketing system and the introduction of pre-paid cards for public passengers and transport services.
It was chaired by the Minister of Transport, Highways and Mass Media, Dr. Bandula Gunawardena.
This is expected to be introduced for public transport operated by the Sri Lanka Transport Board and the Railway Department.
On that occasion, Minister of State for Technology Kanaka Herath, Ministry Secretary Mr. M.M.P.K. Mayadunne, and many officials of institutions related to the Ministry, Sri Lanka Transport Board, and Sri Lanka Railway Department participated.
Although governments have tried to introduce this system on several occasions, it has not been implemented yet.
