So far, the ministry has received information that fertilizers are being sold to farmers at various high prices.
Due to this, it is reported that the attention of the authorities is focused on discussing the setting of a control price.
However, it is stated that no final decision has been taken on imposing a control price for fertilizers.
A final decision in this regard is to be taken after the studies conducted regarding the sales of fertilizers and a proper investigation conducted regarding the reported matters.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Agriculture says that President Ranil Wickramasinghe has proposed to establish a modern agriculture technical secretariat.
The ministry further stated that the related ministerial paper will be presented to the ministerial council next week.
