In a momentous revival, the Niyangoda Salusala Center in Kandy, which lay abandoned for six years, has been reinvigorated through the dedicated efforts of the Central Province Governor’s Lawyer, Mr. Lalith U. Gamage. Following extensive renovations, the textile industry activities were reignited within this center, marking a significant milestone in its history.
Under the guidance of Mr. Gamage, the Central Provincial Textile Industry Department and the Salusala Company Limited collaborated to produce robes using traditional cotton threads. These meticulously crafted robes were presented to the esteemed Maha Nayaka of the Malwathu faction, Most Venerable Thibbatuwe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thero.
During the presentation ceremony, Lalith U. Gamage, along with key officials including Upali Ranawaka, Secretary of the Central Provincial Industries Ministry, Manjula Madahapola, Secretary to the Governor, and Laksika Ranaweera, Assistant Director of the Textile Industry Department, graced the event, celebrating the successful revival of the Niyangoda Salusala Center. This endeavor not only breathes life into a previously abandoned establishment but also honors the rich tradition of textile craftsmanship in the region, ensuring its continuation for generations to come.
