The Western Province South District Crime Division has successfully apprehended a gang responsible for a string of high-value thefts, including a daring break-in at the Sanasa Bank in Kotikawatta, where gold worth nearly one crore rupees was stolen. Among their numerous heists, the culprits had broken into two residences in Nawala, making away with property, including gold valued at 56 lakh rupees. Furthermore, a house located on Kandana Pallia Road fell victim to their thievery, resulting in property losses exceeding one lakh rupees.

The criminals also targeted a residence in Wellampitiya Salamulla, where they pilfered a valuable brass lamp standing at an impressive 6 feet tall, worth over one lakh rupees. These crimes were solved through the relentless efforts of the West South Crime Division, leading to the apprehension of three individuals, one of whom is a 29-year-old woman hailing from Panwila. The other two suspects, aged 35 and 40, are residents of Narahenpita and Modara, respectively.

It has come to light that all three individuals share a common struggle with drug addiction, which is believed to have played a significant role in their spree of robberies. The authorities have successfully recovered stolen goods valued at millions, providing a degree of solace to the victims of these thefts.
