The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna say that they are very worried due to the reshuffle of the cabinet made by President Ranil Wickramasinghe today (23).
Sagara Kariyawasam, Secretary General of that party, said that this was a wrong decision taken by the President.
The Secretary General also says:
“They made false accusations against Minister Keheliya. It all turned out to be a lie. But the President may have decided that it is better to make some changes in this regard. Accordingly, Mr. Ramesh Pathirana, who is a doctor by profession, has been appointed as the Minister of Health.
However, we have some concerns. We informed the President about that. Because the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna gives the power to the President in Parliament to lead the government. The majority of members of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna provide this power. There are only 5 members of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
But we are not happy that a ministerial position has been removed from here and given to the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and a new state ministerial position has also been given to it. That is wrong. We are not afraid to say this is wrong. Even the President is wrong if he does wrong things. We declare that it is wrong. The President should not have done that. We as a party strongly protest against that.”
