Regarding the Sri Lankan woman who was tragically killed by Hamas militants in Israel, the Israeli PIBA organization has officially confirmed that her family members will also have the same privileges and rights as Israelis.
The agency claims that she has this right because she was registered with the Foreign Service Bureau of Sri Lanka and worked legally in Israel.
Mrs. Anula Ratnayake (Jayathilaka) had lost her life during the Hamas attack on Israel on the 7th while she was working there. While she was in this country, she was residing in Kelaniya Eriyawatiya area.
This was confirmed by the International Division of the Israel Police Department to the authorities of this country yesterday morning.
The relevant body is to be handed over to the Sri Lanka Embassy within two days.
Mr. Nimal Bandara, Sri Lanka’s ambassador to the country, said that after the identification of the body, information will be given soon about the last respects and religious rites and the body will be sent to the family members as soon as the related activities are completed.
However, the authorities of this country emphasize that they are also closely monitoring the war conflicts in Israel and the situation in Lebanon.
