Bandarawela, a city in Sri Lanka, faced severe flooding and blockages following relentless heavy rainfall. Angry residents attributed the crisis to irregular construction and the inadequate maintenance of the drainage system, leading to the submergence of several vehicles and shops near the temple area. The incident shed light on the urgent need for improved infrastructure and disaster management in vulnerable regions.

In a separate incident, the Central Railway Line faced a significant disruption when a large tree fell between Watawala and Galabada stations. This unforeseen obstacle halted train services, affecting the Udarata Menike Express that was en route from Colombo Fort to Badulla. Passengers found themselves stranded at Galabada Station, waiting for authorities to clear the tracks and restore railway operations.
