The Department of Meteorology says that heavy rains of over 100 mm may occur in 7 districts of the island today (27).
Accordingly, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Kegalle, Ratnapura, Galle and Matara districts.
Meteorologists have indicated that Puttalam, Kurunegala, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Hambantota districts will also receive rain today.
The department says that due to the activation of South West Monsoon, rain conditions are expected to continue in the South West part of the island.
