Last night there was a slight movement in Buttala area.
The Bureau of Geological Survey and Mines says that there was a minor earthquake of 2.4 on the Richter scale around 11.20pm last night.
This earthquake was recorded by seismometers installed at four locations and the epicenter was recorded at a depth of about one kilometer from the earth’s surface.
No damage from this earthquake has been reported so far.
