Tragedy struck this morning (24) when a collision between a three-wheeler and a private passenger transport bus on the Dambulla-Kurunegala main road in the Galewela Beligamuwa area resulted in two fatalities and left three others injured.
The two individuals who lost their lives in this devastating accident, aged 31 and 34, have been identified as residents of the Arachchikattuwa area. Their bodies have been kept at Galewela Hospital.
Initial reports from the police suggest that the accident may have occurred due to the three-wheeler driver falling asleep while operating the vehicle. Investigations into the incident are currently underway to ascertain further details.
