The Ministry of Health has decided to start a new program to solve the mental health problems of school students in Sri Lanka.
The Family Health Bureau stated that the program will be started jointly with the Ministry of Education.
Under this, teachers will also be given special training to identify children’s mental health problems.
The Family Health Bureau stated that this will identify children suffering from certain mental problems and refer them for treatment and counselling.
Psychiatric experts point out that school students have faced many mental problems recently.
Rumi Reuben, a specialist psychiatrist at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital, points out that excessive anger and lack of knowledge to solve mental problems is a serious problem.
