Yesterday (05) two police constables were arrested by Nugegoda Divisional Criminal Investigation Unit officials who allegedly robbed the money and mobile phone of a drug trafficker who was arrested with 02 grams of ice drug and released the trafficker.
Two police constables working at Keselwatte and Fort police stations have been arrested.
An amount of 25,300 rupees and an Apple mobile phone were stolen from the possession of the drug dealer.
A senior police officer said that this robbery took place on one of the two days of July 23 and 24.
The officer also said that these two police constables went to Rajagiriya area in a three-wheeler and arrested this drug dealer with 02 grams of ice near a supermarket complex. The officer also said that the two ran away after robbing him of his money and mobile phone.
According to a complaint made by the drug trafficker to the police, an investigation has been conducted and this arrest has been made.
