A patient infected with meningococcal bacteria, which killed two inmates in Galle prison, has been identified in Colombo district.
A 49-year-old resident of the Ja Ela area has been admitted to Kothalawala Defense University Hospital due to a fever.
Several tests were conducted there and the patient was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital for further treatment.
It is also reported that about 30 associates of the person where he worked were examined and given antibiotics.
