A program has been started to provide ID cards to people who cannot obtain a National ID card due to the lack of a birth certificate.
The Commissioner General of Registration of Persons Mr. Pradeep Saputhanthi mentioned that an instruction sheet has been sent to all the Divisional Secretaries to implement the program for persons who have completed 40 years of age.
Accordingly, it is stated that Sri Lankan citizens over 40 years of age, registered in the voter list, with permanent residence in a certain village officer division, can apply for this.
That means you need not be a registered citizen by birth to apply for the NIC ? In Srilanka .Internationally a ridiculous step. Indeed
A suspicious and sinister move.
This is a very suspicious move. That means anybody who is not born in SL but get GSN registered in a village can get ID. That’s ridiculous!
