President Ranil Wickremesinghe has met the President of Singapore Mrs. Halima Yekeb.
The President left the island early today (21) for a two-day official visit.
During his visit, the President will hold bilateral talks with the country’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Singapore Defense Minister Neng Eng Hen, and Minister of Sustainability and Environment Grace Fu Hai Yen.
Article 6 of the Paris Agreement allows countries to cooperate cost-effectively with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions under international carbon trading.
Accordingly, the Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of Singapore on carbon neutrality within the framework of the Paris Agreement is to be signed after the discussion between President Ranil Wickremesinghe and the Prime Minister of Singapore.
Presidential Senior Advisor on National Security and Chief of Presidential Staff Sagala Ratnayake, Presidential Senior Advisor on Climate Change Ruwan Wijewardena, Presidential Senior Advisor on Economic Affairs Dr. R.H.S. Samaratunga, also joined the President on this visit.
