    “Recent allergy-related deaths are normal, compared to the situation in the world”

    Professor of Allergy and Immunology at Sri Jayewardenepura University Mr. Chandima Jeevandara said at a news conference held in Colombo today that the recent death of two patients due to a severe allergy is normal compared to the world situation.

    The professor mentioned that the investigation done by the committee he also represented revealed that two patients this time is not an unusual increase, while patients usually die due to allergies.

    He said there that a committee consisting of local and foreign experts conducted tests on 6 patients who developed allergies and studied the facts regarding the two patients who died.

    The professor also mentioned that the committee that looked into the matter concluded that it is not an unusual increase when comparing the death of patients due to allergies in other years in Sri Lanka and the death of 2 people the previous day.

    He mentioned that his committee had given a long report in this regard to the Minister of Health.
