Minister of State for Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya says that he has instructed the Commissioner General of Excise to provide an urgent report on the shooting incident allegedly involving a group of excise officers in the Bambalapitiya area.
After the shooting incident that took place yesterday afternoon at Marine Drive in the Bambalapitiya Police Domain, the people who were shot have fled in a van they came in.
While they were fleeing, it was reported that the police officers stopped and checked the car in the Wellawatta area and arrested 4 suspects.
It is said that one of the suspects has been identified as an excise inspector and the other three as excise officers.
It is said that the van has been taken into police custody and the pistol belonging to the excise inspector suspected to have been used in the shooting has also been taken into custody.
