The government has decided to impose a new tax on imported coconut oil with effect from next week.
Accordingly, the government is going to take steps to impose a tax of 25 rupees per liter of imported coconut oil from next week.
State Minister for Finance Mr. Ranjith Siambalapitiya said that this step is being taken to protect local coconut oil producers.
