Mr. Mujibur Rahman of the Samagi Jana Balawega party has decided to resort to court action with the aim of regaining his position as a Member of Parliament.
He resigned as a member of parliament a few months ago to contest the local government elections.
The MP states that if the election is not held, he should regain his position as a Member of Parliament.
Mr. Mujibar Rahman says that he is already discussing with his lawyers to present a petition to the Supreme Court in this regard.
He says that he resigned from the post of MP to run for the post of mayor of the Colombo Municipal Council.
Currently, the local government elections have been postponed indefinitely.
The government has decided to give back their jobs and salaries to the government employees who came forward to contest this election.
Therefore, Mr. Mujibar Rahman further stated that he should also be given the position of Member of Parliament and the related privileges.
However, after the resignation of Mr. Mujibar Rahman, his position as a Member of Parliament was given to Mr. AHM Fauzi.
