Four followers of ‘Rotumba Rasika’, a powerful criminal from the south, have been arrested by the Police Special Task Force officers along with an AK47 type firearm and a modern pistol made in America.
According to the information received by the officers of Wathukolakanda camp of the Southern Provincial Special Operations Unit of the Police Special Task Force, these four suspects were arrested with firearms during the raid carried out in the Mulatiyana area of Mawarala Police Domain yesterday.
Apart from firearms, 12 grams and 80 milligrams of heroin were also found in the possession of these suspects.
The suspects are 36, 43, 44, 51 years old residents of Mulatiyana and Makadura areas.
These four suspects are the henchmen of Rotumba Rasika, a criminal who is currently serving a life sentence and is being held in Bussa High Security Prison. During questioning, it was revealed that these firearms belong to ‘Rotamba Rasika’.
The raid was carried out by a team of officers including Inspector HGSC Nishanka of the Southern Province Special Operations Unit, under the orders and instructions of Special Task Force Commander DIG Attorney General Varuna Jayasundara, under the guidance of Director Intelligence Superintendent of Police MMK Wijesinghe, under the supervision of Assistant Superintendent of Police (Intelligence/Special Operations/Anti-Narcotics and Organized Crime) Sagara Kulasekara.
