Pamunugama police arrested a person yesterday who killed a 34-year-old resident of Thudella, Ja-Ela, burned his body and dumped parts in a swamp.
This crime took place on the night of the 19th.
A person named Ranga Perera has been murdered. A person named Kumara Perera (42), a resident of Bopitiya, Pamunugama, has been arrested for his murder.
The deceased and the suspect are friends. It has also been revealed that the two of them drank alcohol together at Bopitiya on the 19th.
Since her husband did not come home during the night of the 19th, his wife lodged a complaint with the police on the 20th.
She had complained to the police that she had received information that he had been drinking alcohol with another person on the Bopitiya side of Pamunugama.
Based on the information provided by the wife, the police conducted investigations to find the missing person and finally found the person who allegedly drank alcohol and interrogated him. Everything has been revealed during the lengthy questioning based on suspicions about his behavior there.
The suspect said there that he had a personal dispute and after drinking alcohol, he killed the victim with a knife, burnt the body, and dumped its parts in the Pamunugama Nilsirigama swamp.
Accordingly, when the police inspected the swamp, they found many body parts.
