    SDIG Deshbandu received a court order for an incident that happened during the struggle

    The Court of Appeal has issued a writ, invalidating the summons issued by the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court to the Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province, Mr. Deshbandu Tennakoon.

    The summons asked him to appear as a suspect in connection with the discovery of more than one crore and seventy-eight lakh rupees by the activists when they entered the presidential palace.

    Giving the decision of the writ petition presented by Mr. Deshbandu Tennakoon, the above order has been issued by the bench of judges consisting of Mr. Nishanka Bandula Karunaratne and Mr. A. Marikkar, President of the Court of Appeal.

    The Court of Appeal has also issued a writ overturning a letter issued by the Attorney General to name Mr. Deshbandu Tennakoon as a suspect in connection with the attack on the ‘Gota Go Gama’ struggle held at Galleface Green on May 09 last year.
