Prof. M. A. R. Manjula Fernando has officially assumed office today (23) as the new chairman of the Public Utilities Commission.
He has been appointed after getting the approval of the Constitutional Council.

While the minister in charge has announced that the electricity bill will be reduced soon, there have been accusations from various parties that the appointment of the new chairman will be delayed.
