Health Minister Mr. Keheliya Rambukwella says that a full investigation has been started on the problem that has arisen regarding an anesthetic drug in several hospitals.
The minister said today (22) in the parliament that this problem of anesthetic medicine has arisen only in two hospitals.
He said this while explaining the problematic situation that arose regarding an anesthetic drug in Peradeniya Teaching Hospital and Peradeniya Children’s Hospital.
The minister also emphasized that this anesthetic drug will not be given to the children’s hospital and that the anesthetic drug is not being used on children at all.
Cases of patients dying due to an anesthetic drug used during surgery have been reported in recent days.
Also, the Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella said there that he will resign from the ministerial position if he does not receive the funds needed to buy medicines.
