It has been decided to inspect private schools, government schools, pre-schools, private educational institutions, higher education institutions (universities, Piriven) in the Western Province every Monday.
That is according to the decision to implement a comprehensive program of inspection of institutions and premises in the Western Province for dengue control.
Accordingly, factories will be inspected on Tuesday, construction sites on Wednesday, other private institutions on Thursday, other government institutions on Friday, homes and gardens on Saturday and religious shrines on Sunday.
These decisions have been reached as proposed in the Western Province sub-committee of the Dengue Control Expert Committee appointed by President Ranil Wickramasinghe recently.
Also, in the event that any institution has to use a date other than the scheduled date, it has been advised to inform the office of the concerned Medical Officer of Health about it.
These inspections should be done weekly by a volunteer team appointed by the concerned institutions and the reports should be given monthly to the office of the concerned Medical Officer of Health.
Until the number of dengue cases reported daily is under control, it has also been suggested that it is advisable for preschool and school children to wear body-covering clothing as much as possible so as not to incur additional costs to parents to reduce dengue mosquito bites.
