The Dematagoda Police has informed that the alleged incident where two officers working at the Police Special Task Force headquarters camp broke into a private financial institution located on Baseline Mawatha along with a monk posing as undercover police officers and abducted its owner is a false complaint.
Special Task Force Dematagoda Police has informed that two officers of the Police Special Task Force have gone to the place to help the monk, who is a friend of a special task force police inspector, came to recover the sum of 60 lakh rupees deposited in this financial institution for the construction of a Dhamma school building.
It has also been revealed that the owner of this financial institution is a person who has collected a large amount of money stating that he will give more interest and is currently committing fraud. About a week ago, this person was abducted by a group of people who had deposited money in the said financial institution and rescued while riding a three-wheeler and handed over to the Dematagoda Police Station by a group of officers of the Police Special Task Force.
It is said that when the monk asked for money, he did not give money but instead gave a check. Later, he said that he will give property to the monk as a guarantee until the check is cashed. It is said that he has tried to go to the Malambe area and give some old goods that were in a warehouse belonging to him.
However, police information disclosed that he complained to the Dematagoda Police about a kidnapping after, and the monk complained to the police about it when the check given to the monk was declined.
