    A finance company owner was kidnapped by a monk along with 02 STF officers

    The Dematagoda Police have started investigations to arrest two officers working at the Police Special Task Force headquarters camp who broke into a private financial institution located on Baseline Mawatha, Dematagoda, along with a monk, posing as undercover police officers and kidnapped its owner.

    Investigations have revealed that a cab belonging to the Special Task Force was also used for the kidnapping.

    The monk involved in this kidnapping is currently in Dematagoda police custody. This monk, named Monaragala Chandananda, was arrested at a temple in the Dodamduwa Pinkanda Katukoliha area.

    It is said that this monk has invested a lot of money in the financial institution located in Dematagoda. The monk had come to collect the money with the two special task force officers posing as officers of the Criminal Investigation Department. That was last May 11. According to the agreement, the owner has given a check worth more than 46 lakh rupees saying that he cannot give the money as requested at once. At that time, the monk refused to receive the check and the owner of the financial institution was abducted and then released after taking his passport and house deed by force. The owner of the financial institution has complained to the police about this on the last 10th. According to the investigation, it has been revealed that he was abducted by two members of the Police Special Task Force. The Dematagoda Police say that investigations are underway to arrest the two.
