The Australian cricket team won the 2023 World Test Championship organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC) today (11).
Batting first at the Oval Cricket Stadium in England, the Australian cricket team scored 469 runs for all out in the 1st innings. Steven Smith scored 121 and Travis Head scored 163 with the bat.
India, who played the innings in reply, could score only 296 runs in their first innings. Ajinkya Rahane scored 89 and added some justice to the Indian innings.
After scoring 270 runs in the second innings, Australia declared their innings with 8 wickets down and invited India to attack back. Australia’s only success in the second innings was Alex Carey scoring 66 runs.
Chasing a target of 444 runs, the Australian bowlers managed to restrict India to 234 runs. None of the Indian players could cross 50 runs. Nathan Lyon took 41/4, and Scott Boland took 46/3 with the ball.
Australian player Travis Head won the Man of the Match award.
