20 train journeys and 500 buses targeting Poson Festival

All arrangements have been made to hold this year’s National Poson Festival centered around Mihinthale, Anuradhapura and Thanthirimalaya.

Poson Week starts from 31st May to 6th June.

Since it is expected that a large number of devotees will participate in the Poson Festival this year, the public and private institutions centered in the city are already ready to provide the necessary facilities for the devotees coming from different parts of the island.

The Department of Railways states that some additional train times will be used during this period.

Accordingly, in addition to the existing 10 train journeys from Pettah to Anuradhapura, another 10 new train journeys are to be added.

Accordingly, those journeys will be used as 5 journeys for arrival and 5 journeys for departure. Further train services are expected to be added as per requirement.

The Sri Lanka Transport Board and the North Central Provincial Road Passenger Transport Authority state that 400 additional buses have been deployed throughout the Anuradhapura district during the Poson Festival.

There are several additional services from Pettah to Anuradhapura.

The authority added that 100 more buses will be kept ready as a large number of devotees are expected to attend this year.
