Yesterday, a demonstration was held in front of the hospital demanding the reinstatement of the former forensic medical officer of Palai Hospital Mr. Sinnaiya Shivaruban, who was arrested and released on bail after being accused of preparing to reorganize the LTTE.
Former Coroner in Palai was arrested on August 18, 2019. According to an information received by the Army Intelligence Division, it was by the officers of the Jaffna Unit of the Terrorist Investigation Division.
Then 06 people were arrested with whom the doctor was said to have had a relationship and many explosives and weapons were also found by the Terrorism Investigation Division.
This doctor had been under the charge of the Terrorism Investigation Division for some time and had conducted investigations and was later remanded in custody after being presented to the court. He was released on bail on March 11.
Currently, this doctor has been suspended, and the people who protested in front of the hospital yesterday demanded that he be reinstated.
This protest has been organized by a group of members of Palai Village Development Societies under the initiative of a non-governmental organization.
