Schools in several regions of the southern province are closed today (15).
The reason for this is the heavy rains that have affected those areas.
Due to the heavy rain that has been falling since yesterday (14), many schools have been flooded.
Accordingly, the Morawaka (Deniyaya) Zonal Office announces that all schools in Morawaka and Kotapola Divisions are closed today.
All schools except Urubokka National School and Pattiwela Kanitu Viduhala in the Pasgoda division belonging to Morawaka Education Zone (Deniyaya) will be closed today due to the disaster.
Kithalagama East and West schools belonging to the Thihagoda Division of Mulatiyana Education Zone will also be closed today, Mulatiyana Zonal Office said.
Diyalape Kanitu Viduhala, Athuraliya Maha Vidyalaya, Pahuranwila Kanitu Viduhala, and Paraduwa Kanitu Viduhala belonging to Akurassa and Malimbada Divisions of Akurassa Education Zone will also be closed today.
Meanwhile, in Matara, Deyyandara National School, Deyyandara Primary School, Makandura Central High School, Makandura Primary School, Sinipalle Primary School, Katiyape North Primary School, Koramburuwana High School, and Meepawita Primary School will also be closed today.
